The Mimic was a beast to animate. Toughest creature I have ever animated. Every shot was unique and presented its own set of challenges. The tentacles had an impressive about of dexterity and detail. The vid shows some examples of the scaling, twisting, growing flexibility of the rig. Doesn't mention the 'hair' tentacles on the head though. We had a combination of animation and animation simulation controls for those.

Behind The Scene: Edge of Tomorrow
Here's a short behind the scenes vid for Edge of Tomorrow featuring a sequence we worked on at Framestore. I animated a couple of shots in this featurette. The shot where the mimic slams into the cars in the car park and the crash scene where the dropship smashes into the Louvre with the digital body double take over for Tom.

EDGE OF TOMORROW - Official Trailer (2014)
Here's the first trailer for 'Edge of Tomorrow' or AYNIK (All You Need Is Kill) as we call it. We've been animating on this project here at Framestore for about 6mths now. The film is going to be intense.
